Thing #17

I listened to a podcast by Elementary Librarian Jos Nase on "How to host a Book Tasting".  This was an interesting concept on how to introduct "good fit books" with the students.  She would decorate the library and set tables as in a restuarnt setting, with flowers, tea lights and the books on a silver tray in the centre.  She used different coloured tablecloths for different genres.  This gave the students an opportunity to sample several books, so they could decide which ones they would like to sign out.  She also had menus that the students filled out, with the olders ones answering a few questions and the younger children would use a happy or sad face to indicate if they thought they would like the book.

This is where I want to be, after the snow, freezing rain and cold tempertatures, this beach looks very appealing!  I have had back problems since the first of January and have been out of work for the last week and a half, thus I am trailing behind on my NB 23 Things!

I created my first list in bibliocomons today, which consisted of a few of the books that I have read in the book club that I belong to.  I enjoyed reading the comments from other people and then checking out their lists and following the books that they read.
